The companies providing the following scholarship opportunities are in no way affiliated with, or endorsed by, Northwest Nazarene University (NNU). The intent of this page is to provide information about scholarships for which we have become aware through the respective companies' marketing efforts. There is no guarantee any NNU student will receive any of the offers mentioned below. The application for each of these scholarships is separate and independent of NNU. Please refer to the respective websites for application information, and read carefully the scholarship application and eligibility requirements.

When applying for scholarships, always be careful with your identity:

  • Do not give your social security or driver's license number
  • Do not give your NNU username or password
  • Do not give credit card or personal financial information
  • Be careful when responding to email messages from unknown sources offering scholarship or financial aid



The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning Scholarship Program

Sponsor:  The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning
Amount: Up to $10,000 per year (depending on the type of school)
Requirement:  Completed online application, complete and current transcript, completed Applicant Appraisal Form and Certification Form (both found on scholarship website), essay
Deadline:  May 15, 2017 (only first 1,000 applications accepted, so apply quickly!)

  • Must be a high school senior who has completed a minimum of five (5) blended or online courses during their last two years of high school
  • Demonstrate academic achievement or improvement as a direct result of their enrollment in the blended/online learning curriculum
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for entire upcoming academic year

How to Apply

The Technical Generation Scholarship

Amount: $2000
Requirement:  Completed application, transcript, current resume, essay responses
Deadline:  May 18, 2017 (before midnight, Pacific Time)

  • Must be a full-time college student (open to current high school seniors)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.0 for high school seniors)
  • Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student at a university or technical school in the 2017-18 school year
  • Intend to pursue a degree, or a degree in a technical field
  • Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for learning and improving
  • Exhibit a strong record of academic achievement

How to Apply Sleep Scholarship

Amount: $1000
Requirement:  Creative video and document that answer questions about sleep (found on scholarship website)
Deadline:  May 19, 2017

  • Must be a current high school senior in the U.S. OR a current college student at an accredited U.S. insitution
  • Must have a high school diploma at time of application
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

How to Apply Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Requirement:  Submit a short story or information article for children (400-800 words)
Deadline:  June 1, 2017

  • Only one piece may be submitted for consideration
  • Applicants may not be a family member of anyone employed by
  • May not submit content that has previously been published online
  • Must be a current high school or college student

How to Apply:

Milliman Opportunity Scholarship

Sponsor:  Milliman
Amount: $5,000
Requirement:  Online application and recommendations
Deadline:  June 1, 2017

  • Must be pursuing a specific degree of study (see application website for list)
  • Must identify as specific ethinic group (see application website for list)
  • Must be full-time current or incoming undergraduate student at an accredited college or university

How to Apply:

GoodCall Scholarship

Sponsor:  GoodCall
Amount: $2,500
Requirement:  Submit a short essay about an important decision you made (400-500 words)
Deadline:  June 30, 2017

  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States
  • High school seniors (who will enroll as a freshman in 2017), current undergraduate students, and current graduate students are eligible
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Students with any major may apply

How to Apply: Scholarships

Amount: 2 different scholarships - each $1000
Requirement:  Written answer to questions, video answer to questions, and copy of transcript
Deadline:  July 15, 2017 (fall semester)

  • Must be attending a 2 or 4 year university/college in the fall of 2017.
  • Must have been involved in caregiving for a family member or volunteering for a senior living community (choose appropriate scholarship)

Abodo "Off To College" Scholarship

Amount: $500
Requirement:  Online application, brief essay (500-1000 words), 1-5 pictures 
Deadline:  August 31, 2017

  • Must be a high school student (18 years old+) who will attend an accredited college or university in Fall 2017

The Hammock Expert Scholarship Program

Sponsor:  The Hammock Expert
Amount: $1,500 (2 winners per semester)
Requirement:  1000-1500 word essay on prompt (in scholarship details)
Deadline:  August 31, 2017 (fall semester)

  • Must have a minumum 2.8 cumulative GPA (high school or university)

Iflexion Scholarship

Sponsor:  Iflexion
Amount: $1000
Requirement:  Essay (1500 words max) on "How Mobile Technology will change Retail in 5 years." 
Deadline:  December 31, 2017

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be enrolled full-time as a college senior, undergraduate or postgraduate
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university

Ongoing Scholarships:

Innovation in Education Scholarship

Sponsor:  LATutors123
Amount:  $500
Requirement:  Innovative project (see website for details), essay describing project, online application
Deadline:  Monthly - no later than 11:59 PST on the 20th of each month. Submission window reopens the 1st of each month.

  • Must be currently enrolled as a high school or college/university student within the United States or Canada
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or equivalent)
  • Must be citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada
  • Must have designed innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others (see website for examples)
  • Must submit an essay describing the goal of the project and provide supporting documentation
  • Must provide a letter of recommendation

How to Apply:

Quit Smoking Community Scholarship

Sponsor:  Quit Smoking Community
Amount:  First place - $1,500, Second place - $1,000, Third place - $500
Requirement:  750-1,500 word essay
Deadline:  Annually - July 21 and January 21

  • 18 years or older
  • Enrolled full-time in a U.S. institution for graduate or undergraduate program (U.S. territories excluded)
  • American citizen or lawful permanent resident currently living in the U.S.

Varsity Tutors Scholarship

Sponsor:  Varsity Tutors
Amount: $1,000
Requirement:  200 to 900 word essay, social media promotion
Deadline:  The 15th of every month, ongoing

  • 16 years or older at time of submission
  • Legal resident of the 50 U.S. States and District of Columbia by April 1, 2016
  • Cannot be a previous winner
